To kill 2 birds with one stone the decision was to go for a lift of 50-55mm to get a final seat height of 850 -855mm. When the dealer re-installed the suspension it went up to 905mm and he said that i would need a ladder to get on the bike. The bike is far too high now ,bordering on ridiculous.

The seat height on the standard GS is 840mm, and the seat height on the standard GSA is 890mm. The low option on the GS takes it down to 800mm and to 850mm on the GSA. Along with the factory lowering kits for the R1250 and F850 GS models, BMW also sells the F750 GS, with lower ride height than the 850, although very similar. If you install the stock seat (850mm on the GS) you'll have a seat height of about 870mm, since you have an extra 20mm from suspension travel. For example my Rallye has the sport suspension (read: the GSA suspension) and was originally 870mm, with the low seat it's back to the standard 850mm.
